The caves of Matera ~ throughout time a refuge for spiritual seekers

A beautifully renovated and tastefully appointed cave hotel will serve as the cradle for our Continuum explorations in breath, sound and movement. Excursions to cultural, historic and artistic sites in Matera will enhance our experience.

Group size limited to 5 participants by interview; Continuum experience required. Retreat begins Sunday, late afternoon, March 20 and ends Sunday, March 28. Fee for workshop and related excursions, $725.

Lodging: Visit the cave hotel website, www.locandadisanmartino.it, to view, select and reserve your private room. You are responsible for your accommodations, which include a generous and diverse breakfast. A wellness area known as the thermae includes a pool, sauna, steambath and whirlpool. Lunch & dinner are your choice at any of the wonderful cucinas, trattorias and bars in the neighborhood.

Travel: You are also responsible for your travel plans and expenses. The nearest airport is Bari and there is shuttle service to Matera (1 hour) thru www.shuttlematera.it, a reliable private company. Purchase your flight after the registration date of December 20, 2010. Travel insurance is recommended; one option is www.accessamerica.com This workshop would combine well with travel elsewhere in Italy or Europe. Bari has non-stop arrivals and departures from Bologna, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Monaco, Rome, Trapani, Venice, Verona and Zurich (travel info is available from Elaine).

Registration: A deposit of $300 is due by December 20, 2010. The balance of $425 must be received by February 1, 2011. Refunds, minus deposit given, if your place is filled.

Elaine Colandrea, whose grandparents lived about an hour from Matera before they emigrated to the US, will be your guide to experiencing the beautiful and mysterious terrain both internally with Continuum Movement and externally visiting the ancient remains of the rupestri (cave churches) and gravina of Matera. The retreat will include cultural excusions, private time for rest and relaxation and 24 hours of Continuum. Suggestions for reading about Matera are available.
